    Akron/Family - “So it goes”

I guess we all have to move on at some point. So it goes, indeed.

  2. Beach House - “Heart of Chambers”

Saw this band last night. Kept my eyes closed most of the time. It was wonderful.

    Fenster - “White to Red”

Conrad, I love everything about your last post. Make sure to ask Brian about his motorcycle advice, too.

So you’re going to M83 in Nashville? I was thinking of driving down for that (need to start moving stuff out of Charlottesville anyway). I’ll check on tix, but I’m sure it’s sold out.

This band, Fenster, was featured on a podcast that I like. This is the first song I heard, but they have a couple other ones like it if you are interested. It’s poppy but still interesting.

    “Lucky Struggle” - Terry Urban

A cross between B.I.G. and Lana Del Rey. Thanks to leftasrain.

Trampled by Turtles - “Wait So Long”

Ever heard a song and known immediately you loved it? Of course you have. One of the best feelings there is.

Wood Brothers - “Postcards from Hell”

I saw the Wood Brothers in concert here last night. At one point, the Wood brother who sings thanked the crowd for “not talking and not raising cell phones constantly.” Almost immediately, everyone began talking and raising their cell phones. Compliments are tricky, I guess.

This song is great. It was the first one they played.

    Tennis - “My Better Self”

Cool song. I like the way the singer’s voice sounds, and the drummer does a great job behind her. According to the wikipedia page for this band, the husband and wife who lead Tennis got the band off the ground following a seven month sailing expedition down the Atlantic Coast of North America. Maybe that’s the key to them sounding nothing like the White Stripes.

Mount Carmel - “Swagg’s and Elliot”

Heard this on the All Songs Considered podcast. As the hosts on that show said, this band isn’t really hard to figure out. They just rock.

A view of part of the Mt. Carmel mountain range. No idea if this is the Mt. Carmel the band is named after, but it’s in Israel.

  10. Television - “Venus”

I hadn’t heard this song before yesterday, but that doesn’t mean it can’t go straight to the blog. The singer’s voice reminds me of someone, but I can’t place who. Lou Reed mixed with someone else?
